Water Leakage

Sunday evening Dave rang the doorbell and said "you have a problem".  Sure enough there was significant water leakage at the edge of the driveway.  Dave began digging (Dave is our neighbor) and saw one of the pipes had burst.  Matt shut off the system and Monday moring Dave & Micah began working.

Acrylics - Art Class

Mrs. Whitehouse has some Tuesday art classes this summer, so Micah was eager to go to one this week.  No one else showed up, so Micah had a one-on-one session with Amy.  The 'teaching tips' were:
  • when working with water reflections, darker objects are lighter in the water & lighter objects are darker in the water
  • start with darker objects
  • start with larger objects

Baseball All-Star week

This week (June 24-28) is Micah's All-Star tournament week.  His Dynamite team has been practicing every Tuesday and Thursday night for the month of June.  During his 'extra practice' on Saturday Micah received his All-Star uniform.  He had requested #40 (JJ Putz's number) and GOT IT.  He's super excited!  His coach also told him he would be starting pitcher on their first game Wednesday night (5:30pm).
His nickname:  "The Eliminator"

"Grill Master"

Matt performed a 'Grilling 101' course one night, while I took notes.  Then, it was my turn to try it.  My dad and Matt are awesome at grilling, so I really never needed to know how.  But, these summer evenings are hot and it's not too smart to use the oven every night - so, here I go.
These photos are my first grilling experience.  I did it - the meat was great, the veggies could have cooked longer.

EE Girls Play Date

One of the Eastside Explorers moms wanted to get some of the younger (5-6 year old) girls together for a play date.  Madison, Skyler, & Lilly played dress-up and had a great time!

The "Lee Girls"

My cousin, Suzi, from Naples, FL called me on Sunday and said her family was in Scottsdale.  We went over yesterday to swim with them at the Gainey Ranch Suites.  I haven't seen Suzi since my wedding (04/2002) and neither of us have met each others' children.  It was a nice time getting together and hanging out.  The husbands weren't able to be there, but Alice & Charlie came over and joined in the fun.
Micah (9), Lilly (5) and Roxanna (8) had a marvelous time together swimming and snacking.  Their favorite games were: tag & diving for toys.

Family Bike Ride

It's been a while, but we ALL went on a bike ride together through the neighborhood today.  Generally, I tend to do a majority of the house cleaning on Saturday mornings. Scottsdale Bible Church's summer schedule (having a Saturday evening service) has opened up Sunday morning to also get some done.  It was fun to go out - we've all missed the journey as a family.

First Swim Date of the Summer

Our first swim date of the summer was with the Kroening family.  They are friends of ours whose son, Brady, has been on the same baseball team as Micah for the past two spring seasons (CO Rockies team).  They also live in the back area our neighborhood.  It was a fun afternoon!

Week in Flagstaff

Aunt Alice & Uncle Charlie invited us to Flagstaff June 1-8, 2013.  We stayed with them at their Wyndham timeshare.  Matt joined us for nights on each end (weekend nights).
This unit was near a 9-hole mini golf course, so Micah enjoyed playing golf there a couple of times.
While Matt was with us we went to the Flagstaff Aquaplex (indoor pool with lazy river & water slides; climbing wall).  We also went to the Lowell Observatory.
During the week, we enjoyed miniature golf, ice cream, movies, and the pools.
THANK YOU Alice & Charlie - these weeks with you are priceless.
