Baseball Begins - Black Diamondbacks

The 2014 baseball season has begun for Micah.  He is on the same team as last year (same coach, mostly the same kids) - with a new name:  BLACK DIAMONDBACKS.  Their first game was tonight.  Micah was starting pitcher.

The Wilderness Trial

Before we can move forward on our study of the states becoming part of the union, we must stop for a moment and learn about a famous explorer.  He paved the way (in a manner of speaking) for pioneers to continue moving west of the Appalachian Mountains.

Happy Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Today was a tie-breaking record high  of 85 degrees.  Micah and Lilly put on their swimsuits and asked me to spray them with the hose while they jumped on the trampoline.  (I was cracking up with Micah wearing his snorkeling gear.)  Needless to say, we were outside most of the day!
It's hard to believe the east side of the country is having a terrible 'winter storm' with loads of snow and ice.

 

The Lego Movie

 

Our homeschool co-op, Eastside Explorers, had an entire theatre to ourselves for opening day of The Lego Movie.

2014 Winter Olympics (Sochi, Russia)

The winter Olympics started today!  We are so excited.  We watched figure-skating pairs and qualifications for a new sport - slopestyle.  We watched things during the day on the laptop and then more highlights during the evening primetime on NBC.  We pulled out our 2010 posterboard - looks like we need to add quite a few events (several new ones this year).  Tomorrow night is the opening ceremony.  Go USA!

Slim Goodbody

We went on a field trip, with Eastside Explorers, to see "Slim Goodbody" at the Orpheum Theatre today.  This guy was incredibly entertaining as he presented our body and how it works together.  To learn more about Slim Goodbody go to http://www.slimgoodbody.com/.
